About the event
The 44th Bagamoyo International Arts and Culture Festival runs October 28-31, 2026, with a pre-festival gala on October 27. The programme includes stage performances — traditional and contemporary dance, acrobatics, music, drama, poetry and comedy — alongside traditional crafts exhibitions, film screenings, workshops and guided tours of Bagamoyo's historical and cultural heritage sites.
146 groups have applied to take part, including 104 Tanzanian groups and 42 international ones, with organisers expecting more than 6,000 visitors. Artisans will also sell beads, baskets, traditional clothing and other handicrafts, alongside coastal cuisine.
