Amathambo (KITFest, South Africa)
A South African poetic theatre piece about a former Ndebele warrior and his son's spiritual journey, at KITFest on 6 November.
About the event
Amathambo is a poetic theatre production about Thulari Masombuka, a former Ndebele warrior burdened with a generational curse, and his son Tholile, who embarks on a spiritual journey, guided by his father's spirit, to break it.
The play unfolds in eMalahleni. It explores family history, tradition and spiritual healing, fusing poetic text and visual storytelling with a minimal aesthetic. TheatreKE lists South Africa as its origin and the languages as English and IsiNdebele. It plays at the Kenya National Theatre during KITFest 2026.
