Uganda begins dosing in trial of Oxford's Bundibugyo Ebola vaccine candidate

On 6 October 2026, the first volunteers in Uganda received a University of Oxford vaccine candidate against Bundibugyo Ebola, in a trial testing its safety and immune response, the MRC/UVRI & LSHTM Uganda Research Unit and Africa CDC said.

Africa CDC sends team to Kenya after first Ebola case; Kaseya to visit

On 6 October 2026, Africa CDC said a high-level team is flying to Kenya after the country confirmed its first Ebola case and that Director General Jean Kaseya will follow. It said more than 70% of new cases in the DRC are being detected among people not previously identified as contacts.

On 6 October 2026, Health CS Aden Duale confirmed Kenya's first Ebola Bundibugyo case. The patient flew from Entebbe to Nairobi on 3 October and died on 5 October, and 28 contacts are listed.
