Kenya overtakes Ethiopia as East Africa's largest economy, IMF data show

Kenya's 2025 GDP was US$135.92 billion against Ethiopia's US$126.35 billion in IMF data, after the birr's devaluation shrank Ethiopia's dollar GDP by about 40 per cent, Business Daily reported on 15 October 2026.
