Magda Nieuwoudt led a South African clean sweep of the elite women's road race at the African Continental Road Cycling Championships in Kisumu, Kenya, on 24 October, with Lisa Bone second and Tiffany Keep third.

Rwanda's Diane Ingabire, who won the elite women's time trial earlier in the championships, finished fourth.

Elite and under-23 riders raced in one field. Marzaan Mellett of South Africa was fifth over the line and the first under-23 rider, which gave her the African under-23 title. South Africa's Megan Botha, sixth overall, and Ethiopia's Tsige Kahsay Kiros, eighth, completed the under-23 podium.

Bone has signed a two-year contract with the UCI Women's WorldTour team EF Education–Oatly from 2027.

South Africa also won the mixed team relay, beating the defending champions, Mauritius, into second place, The Standard reported. Kenya, competing on home soil, finished fifth. Kenya's Mercy Eragae won bronze in the junior women's road race, the Kenyan news site The Online Kenyan reported.

Kenya is hosting the continental championships for the third year running, after Eldoret in 2024 and Kwale County in 2025. The 2026 Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Road Championships run from 21 to 25 October and bring more than 300 riders from over 30 countries across 15 categories, Citizen Digital reported.

Kisumu County has set a target of KSh 80 million in revenue from the championships.

The championships close on 25 October with the men's elite and under-23 road race. Eritrea's Merhawi Kudus won the elite men's title in Kwale County in 2025, with his compatriot Awet Aman just behind.
