About the event

The exhibition is held for the 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World (theme: 'Brilliant Language: Conceiving, Designing, and Creating with Italian'). It shows historic theatrical costumes depicting figures from history and myth, particularly Ethiopian ones, and opera characters including the Queen of Sheba, Solomon, Semiramide, Cleopatra, Aida, Amonasro and Turandot.

It was curated by costume designer and stylist Alessandra Carta in collaboration with Emanuele Zito, artistic director of Costumi d'Arte - Peruzzi, founded in 1815. It is organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Addis Ababa, with the Embassy of Italy.
