A Luo-language physical drama based on the epic of Nyamgodho Wuod Obare, with partner acrobatics, aerial work, Ohangla rhythms and nyatiti music.
About the event
A physical drama based on the Luo epic of Nyamgodho Wuod Obare. A poor fisherman pulls a supernatural woman out of Lake Victoria, and sacred cattle rise from the lake with her as a blessing from the lake spirits. His arrogance leads him to insult her; she takes her cattle and fortune back into the lake, and he is left on the shore, slowly turning to stone.
The ticket page describes it as a physical drama about greed, arrogance and our relationship with nature, using ensemble movement, Ohangla rhythms, partner acrobatics, aerial work and nyatiti lyre music. It is performed in Luo.
