About the event

Words on the Wall is an evening talk at the Bookworm in Gigiri with Elizabeth Ashamu Deng. It ties in with her display Kila Ukurasa, Safari Mpya, a series of Swahili proverbs and affirmations shown with English translations, drawn in white, printed in blue and hung above the café tables.

From 5pm on Friday 2 October, Deng will talk about the proverbs and affirmations people carry and what they do to us. Guests are invited to bring a favourite saying and the story of how it shaped them.

Entry is free, but the room is small, so sign up in advance at the Bookworm counter or on its website. The works stay on view until 3 October.
