About the event

My Mother's Tongue is a new live-music series presented by ZIRAYA Events and curated by Valentine Kamau, founder of ZIRAYA Events and the ZIRAYA Institute. The first edition puts three Kenyan artists on one stage at The Event Space in Westlands.

Liboi is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who blends traditional instruments with contemporary production. Mūringĩ Matheri brings Mugithi (Kikuyu guitar-and-voice storytelling music) into Afropop. Brian Sigu performs Benga (a guitar-driven style associated with the Luo) and Afro-fusion.
