Ruto says Kenya will align its anti-doping law with the WADA Code from January 2027

On 5 October 2026, President William Ruto said after talks with WADA President Witold Bańka at State House, Nairobi, that Kenya is aligning its anti-doping law with the WADA Code, to take effect in January 2027, The Star reported. KBC reported that doping offences will be criminalised from that date.

WADA president Witold Bańka arrives in Kenya for anti-doping talks

On 4 October 2026, Witold Bańka, president of the World Anti-Doping Agency, landed in Nairobi on his first visit to Kenya as president, according to Athletics Kenya and KBC. He is due to meet President Ruto, Sports CS Salim Mvurya and athletes.
