US charges five, seizes US$750,000 in 'ghost student' aid fraud linked to Kenya
The US Justice Department said on 29 October that it had charged five people and seized more than US$750,000 in cryptocurrency from a Kenyan national's account, the first results of Operation Ghostbusters. Stolen American identities were allegedly used to claim federal student aid, and the money was sent to Kenya.
